I believe that thisinvitation was the beginning of the storybook. Expalla too me up on it and wrote:

There was no denying the look in her eye
she loved him more than she realized
his trip to Oz would be long and trying
but she knew he would return
with the heart ,brains , and courage
her little monsters would need to survive.
