the unraveling of the world

it hurts to watch to closely
the smog the hate the crime
where did it all go wrong he said
i thought that i had tried

he reaches out to touch them
but the pain is much to strong
as the smog begins to embrace him
he wonders what went wrong

If only they would listen
I am closer than it appears
the answer is so simple
yet they refuse to hear
